Any fan of the disaster film genre can’t miss on The Poseidon Adventure, which is noted by the Master of Disaster producer Irwin Allen as a quintessential disaster film, along with Grand Hotel. The Poseidon Adventure is set on New Year’s Eve and is about the chip’s capsizing from a huge tidal wave. The creation of an upside-down world inside the ship is one of its most exciting scenes as ten survivors struggle to get out of the bottom and get to the “top” of the ship. This film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, and received an Honorary Award for Best Visual Effects.
